Tips for Placing Classifieds

When placing classified ads, there's a bit of a trick to the task.  So if you want to get a big response, pay attention to just a few small rules.  Here they are:

Work the copy.  Why is it that some products sell why others don't get a call?  It could be in the description.  Keep in mind that we all need to imagine in our minds what we're buying, so remember to colorfully describe what you're selling and the advantages of buying it.

Be brief.  Classified readers can cover a whole page in less than a minute.  They expect the words to jump out at them.  Without sacrificing accuracy, tell it and sell it with fewer words.

Give a reason.  Many people, whether they'll admit it or not, want to know why you're selling what you're selling.  Simply put, they don't want to be sold someone else's problems.  So let them know the reason.

Be honest.  While it may sound advantageous to spin the facts a little, in the long run you'll find that honesty truly does pay off.  If people know that your antique motorcycle has a few dents, they'll price it into your asking price.

Classifieds are often the best way to get things sold if you know how to play the game.
